On behalf of Charlottetown City Council, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all visitors and tourists to the City of Charlottetown, The Birthplace of Confederation.
We are a city proud of our rich heritage and the charm of our friendly citizens. In 1864 representatives gathered together in Charlottetown to discuss the formation of our great country - Canada. Charlottetown is one of the cleanest cities in the country- kept that way generally through public pride in the community. Charlottetown has been recognized nationally for its efforts in heritage conservation, environmental, and urban landscape and design. The City of Charlottetown has won the 2001 title in the national competition of Communities In Bloom in its population category.
Come see for yourself, the story of how our country began, and take a walk in the footsteps of the Fathers of Confederation. During your visit in the capital, discover a beautiful waterfront lined with green area and parks. Saunter into quaint shops and restaurants and explore the architecture and history on one of the many available walking tours. Charlottetown is a city that bustles with activities throughout the year with its many festivals, theatres, and cultural events.
