Beaconsfield Historic House is one of the Island's finest residential buildings. Built in 1877 for James Peake, Jr., a wealthy shipbuilder and merchant, Beaconsfield was a visible expression of Peake's social and economic standing. This elegant home, with its mansard roof, elaborate gingerbread trim and crowning belvedere, stands as an enduring symbol of Victorian elegance. Today, Beaconsfield Historic House is open to the public for tours, lectures and special events. Visitors are welcome to tour its Victorian furnished rooms and enjoy the wonderful view of the Charlottetown Harbour from the verandah and flower garden.
